For a guy who listed ‘dressing-up’ as a hobby, I unfortunately didn’t find enough events and/or parties to attend that require a dress code, let alone parties that actually take the code seriously. Things were a little different last weekend: I was invited to the Bacchanalia Gala Dinner and Auction, an annual event as part of the Vancouver Wine Festival (coming up this week). The invitation said ‘Black Tie’ and the venue, was the magnificent Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Add fabulous wines, delicious food and live auctions with rare bottles and extravagant trip to Bordeaux. What’s missing that night, was Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s performance of Shallow – and we’re pretty much at The Oscars.
Over $200,000 was raised that night. The food was fabulous, the wine pairings were delightful, and everyone were having a blast while looking like a million bucks – very appropriate.
The sound of bustling footsteps and glass clinking filled the room, along with chatters and laughters, people had an amazing night wining and dining – which, was very pleasant to watch. We closed the night with some dancing and more wine, leaving me thinking “we need MORE dinner-and-dancing-kind-of-night“.
Many thanks to the Fairmont team for the fabulous evening – it was one for the book for sure.
Can’t wait ’til the Vancouver Wine Festival this weekend, and obviously, for next year’s gala.
